Although the Oklahoma State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (PELS) does not preapprove continuing education activities offered by sponsoring organizations, professionals must submit documentation to PELS every 2-years that includes supporting information about each attended training activity in order for it to count towards their continuing education requirements.
MS4s may act as “sponsoring organizations” and offer these continuing educational events, however, the MS4 must provide educational material and specific documentation that meets the criteria of PELS (OAC Title 245: 15-11-6). If the MS4 can answer “yes” to the following questions, the MS4 can in good faith, offer the activity for continuing education credit:
- Does the activity include technical, ethical, or business content relevant to the licensees field and methods of practice?
- Does the activity maintain, improve, or expand the skill set and knowledge of the licensees field and methods of practice?
- Will the sponsoring organization issue proof of attendance following the activity?
- Does the activity meet the criteria for continuing educational activities found in OAC 245:15-11-6?
Please see below for examples of documents that should be provided to attendees of a training event as part of their Certificate of Completion:
